had great fun over the christmas period, we knew one of the cats had gone walkies as we had seen him over the other side of the river a few days earlierl; just about to dish up christmas dinner when our neighbour knocked at the door saying one of our cats was up a tree; the tree was about 30/40ft high;we rushed over there; there he was more than half way up; we spent hours trying to get him down; one of our french friends came down with a fishing rod, attatched to it was a carcass of chicken; she waved it about but no luck; then I thought about the dinner; it was a bit dried up^but we ate it just the same, our neighbour suggested she call the firebrigade; they said call backh if he hadn't come down
the next day the cat had moved to another tree; a bit lower down; our friend called the firebrigade; they said they couldn't coem; so it was back to the fishing rod and persuasion; by that time most of her family was out there; except her husband; she went to get him; I take it he said no; she phoned the firebrigade again; and they agreed to come; two vehicules arrived; the rescue ladder and three dishy firemen; they tried throwing stones to persuade the cat to move; he did; but up the tree! our friends mother started to throw stones; only she hit the fireman on the head; luckily he had a helmet on!
the cat remained where he was; we decided to leave if for the day; I told the mother of the cat to fetch her son down and bring him home; I could'nt believe it when 1/2 hr later she arrived with the other cat not far behind; he was very thin and hungry; he'd been up the tree for 4 days by then and missing for over a week:
Alls well now; hes been out again and come straight back;
