My poor little Sally has been sick with a bad urinary infection ~ at least the vet and I are pretty sure that's what it is Last Saturday when I was cleaning the cage I noticed blood ~ OMGosh! It was coming from Sally's bottom and there was a lot of it I immediately called the vet and got her in to see the Exotic Specialist. A check up was done but she needed to do a urinalysis ~ because guinea pigs are sensitive the vet advised me Sally might not make it through the test ~ so she offered to give her an antibiotic called Baytril by mouth injections for 10 days. The vet told me if this didn't clear up the bleeding Sally would need the urinary test and possibly an xray for kidney stones. Guinea pigs don't usually survive if they have kidney stones. Well ~ I'm very happy to report that Sally seems to be doing better with the Baytril I haven't seen any signs of blood since Monday and that was only a small trace. Sally seems better! She's eating well and alert! All I need to do now is to remember her Baytril at night! I give her the injections twice a day ~ morning and night time.

Poor little Sally Sally is bleeding again She was doing fine up till yesterday! The Baytril she took for 2 weeks stopped the bleeding right away! I can't make another appointment with her vet till Monday to find out why she started this again! I just hope it's Not what the doctor originally told me it could be ~ kidney stones Sally is such a sweet little who doesn't mind being held unlike her sister Lucy who has never liked being held and tries to wiggle out of your hands.
