I don't own a ferret myself but would like to. I understand they are a lot like cats and will use a litter box if trained. The ones that I've seen in the pet stores are babies. They are sooo cute playing with each other. They can be pretty expensive too! Post your ferret stories and photos here! This should be fun! ;D

Ferrets are wonderfully fun and are more like dogs and cats together in 1 body. They are so smart and so silly, but if you don't pay enough attention to them they get so sad. They are very mischievious too.

Sounds like you know a lot about ferrets. Have you ever owned one? I really don't know a thing about them except for the fact that they use a litter box. I was told they are more like cats but then that was from a Pet Store employee. They don't seem to know much about animals in Pet Stores anyway.

We had 5 of them all at once about 7 years ago. They got to be too much work for me and very expensive to keep. My ex never helped with their care, and he got a Rotty that wanted to eat them all, so they had to move. But they where very nice pets.

I guess you are an expert on ferrets then. Having 5 of them makes you an expert in my book! I'm so sorry you had to give them all up because of your ex's dog! That's a shame.

Yeah my daughter has been after me to get another one for her, but I think they are not allowed here in my town. Strickly a dog and cat community.

Not allowed? That's one I've never heard before! Are they banning ferrets now?

Well as far as I know they are legal in the state, but in my town, they specify only dogs and cats as pets are allowed, although you can have birds and fish.

I've never heard of such a law? We do have a recent law here that you can't own a pit Bull unless it's registered as a dangerous breed. That goes for German Sheppard's and a few other aggressive breeds. Our Governor signed the law into effect just a couple months ago.

I don't know if it is a law here, but it is in the Town "handbook" if you can call it that. It states, dogs and cats are allowed, but no Exotic pets of any kind. Which if you look into the meaning of exotic pets, that could include birds and fish too, and guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles ect.
WEird isn't it.

Actually I did some reading up on this at our town website and ferrets are allowed here. Not telling Hannah though. The only types of animal not allowed according to the site are barnyard types. Although I never considered a barnyard animal exotic before. lol I found an old picture and since Hannah got a scanner for Christmas I scanned it in. Here is the proof. Pardon the mess, we had just moved into that house and where renovating it. It needed tons of work. Should have been torn down, or burnt down. lol Annie was the dogs name, and she would throw herself at their cage trying to break into it. Scared the little guys and girls to death. Our cat used to hide upstairs from her, since the only thing Annie was afraid of where the stairs going to the upstairs. In that huge cage lived 5 ferrets, they used to be able to come out and play before my ex got this dog. And yours truly ended up having to do all the work with her. Naturally. It was no longer a good place for the ferrets, because of him and Annie, so I had to find a new place for them fast. Broke our hearts, me and the kids anyway. I will have to find all the pics and scan them in. We had some great times with them.
