I decided to paint an accent wall in my living room & dinning area so I went to Walmart to purchase paint. I picked out the color I wanted called Sea Glass (it's between a lt. blue & green, kinda like sea foam.)
Anyway, I told the sales man what I needed the paint for and he picked out a Dutch Boy Base, I assumed for interior walls. I was more concerned about the color than even bothering to notice he had sold me an Exterior paint instead of interior. I brought it home not bothering to look at the label, opened it and started painting my walls. The sales man had told me I would need to paint two coats over white walls so the next day I started to put on the second coat but my paint roller needed to be replaced first and I didn't have one, so off to Walmart I went. This time I got another salesperson. I told her I might need a little more paint because I didn't feel I had enough left to apply a second coat. She sold me a quart of the Sea Glass so I could finish the job with my new paint roller. She also told me I could pour the quart in with the remaining paint I had at home.
Arriving home, I compared the labels of the two paints to make sure they were the same and that's when I noticed I had painted my walls with Extreme Adhesion Exterior Paint OMGosh!!! The first salesman had sold me the wrong paint!! The worst part was, it was now on my walls!!! I was So upset!! I wanted to call the hotline on the paint to make sure it wasn't toxic etc. but they closed at 5:00 eastern time and I'm pacific so I had to wait and worry.
This morning I called Dutch Boys Hotline and found out I shouldn't be concerned because all the paints they sell are safe. The only problem I might have with the Exterior paint on my walls would be a chalky substance when you rub against the dry paint. I told him there wasn't any chalk and the paint was dry. He told me I could repaint over the Exterior paint with Interior paint but it was my call because there would be no health hazard. Whoa!! What a Relief that was to hear
OK, so I decided to go ahead and leave the walls the way they are and call Walmart to give them a piece of my mind for selling me the wrong paint to begin with. I plan on calling them tomorrow because today I just wanted to get my living room & dinning area back in order.
here's some pics I took of the paint job. It's a little hard to tell what the color looks like ~ just picture the color a tiny bit darker on the walls.
