During the New England cold winters how long is a dog able to tolerate being outside?

Dogs shouldn't be left outside at all during the winter.... they should only be let outside to do their business (potty) and brought right back inside the home or shelter.....

A neighbor's dog sometimes spends an hour or more outisde. It isn't during storms or ice-freezing weather. Thanks for your reply. I do understand that there is a difference between staying outside in the extremely cold winters versus staying outside in the winter;when the temperatures are not that low. www.womenonly.proboards.com

I do not time how long that lhasa apso stays outside. When he wants to go inside he barks and barks. Finally some lets that poor baby in. He'll be 13 years old sometime this year. I have seen a dog owner taking his "hot dog" for a walk in the cold winter weather. The little cutie likes her walks. When its not freezing another dog owner takes her labador for a walk. womenonly.proboards.com

my little Scruffy will 13 in Oct of this year.... Scruffy loves being outside in nice weather and so do Buddy & Shadow but leaving them out for long periods of time isn't good and especially if they're doing a lot of barking
